  • Cultivate Ventures invests in next generation farms, robotics and automation, sustainable and regenerative agriculture, irrigation technology, fertilisers and soil management, novel cultivars, AI and predictive analytics for farm management, energy solutions, innovative plant-based products, high growth food and beverage, logistics and storage, and biosecurity management.

  • This offer is only open to (a) persons in New Zealand who are “wholesale investors” under Schedule 1 of the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013 (the Act) or are otherwise not required to receive disclosure under Part 3 of the Act; and (b) other persons to whom we (at our sole and absolute discretion) consider the offer and issue of interests in the Fund may legally be made without any prospectus, product disclosure statement or other offering document. For example, you may be eligible to invest in this Fund if you are a New Zealand investor and meet one or more of the following criteria:

    • Are in the investment business.

    • Are conducting significant investment activity on your own account with a portfolio of specified products of more than $1m.

    • Have assets or turnover under your control of over $5m.

    • Are otherwise experienced in products of this nature.

  • Investments need to satisfy the following criteria:

    • Commercial investments with a compelling investment case.

    • Investee entities that benefit New Zealand’s growers and farmers.

    • Satisfactory due diligence completed by the Manager and external advisors.

    • Final approval by the independent Investment Committee.

  • Cultivate Ventures is established as a Limited Partnership; meaning that investors partner with each other to capitalise and establish the Fund.

    As Cultivate Ventures is an industry-led initiative, the Fund and its portfolio companies engages regularly with the Limited Partners (fund investors) and in agricultural sector events and initiatives.

  • Approximately 90% of Cultivate Ventures’ investments is deployed into agri-tech and agri-food business at the growth and expansion stage.

    Investment in a limited number of earlier stage/seed investments are considered on a case-by-case basis.

  • Northington Partners is the Fund Manager. They are responsible for originating, completing and actively managing the investments of Cultivate Ventures on behalf of the investors to deliver the desired commercial and impact objectives.

    The team has a proven track record in this space and is supported by a highly experienced Investment Committee and Advisory Panel, providing a diverse range of agri-business and investment experience.

  • Cultivate Ventures will invest in at least 10 high-growth companies to ensure a good level of portfolio diversification with limited exposure to any specific entity.

  • Cultivate Ventures primarily invests in New Zealand businesses with a local and international presence.

    The Fund may also invest in a limited number of global businesses with plans to enter the New Zealand market, that can bring overseas technologies to New Zealand for the benefit of New Zealand growers and farmers.
